Data Collection

Browser Utils does not collect any personal information. We do not track your browsing activity, usage patterns, or any other user data.

Local Storage Only

The extension stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:

• History entries: Text you paste into the extension (JSON, Base64, timestamps, plain text) for quick access to previously processed content
• User preferences: Theme selection (light/dark mode) and other UI settings

All data is stored locally in your browser and never leaves your device. No data is transmitted to external servers or third parties.

Permissions Explained

Browser Utils requests the following permissions:

• Storage: To save your history and preferences locally on your device
• Tabs: To open new tabs for YouTube and ChatGPT searches from context menus
• Context Menus: To add right-click menu options for quick searches
• Scripting: To inject the modal overlay when expanding JSON views on web pages

These permissions are used solely for the extension's functionality and not for tracking or data collection.

Third-Party Services

Browser Utils does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The extension operates entirely offline and locally.

When you use the context menu options to search on YouTube or ChatGPT, the extension simply opens those websites in a new tab. Any data sharing with those services is subject to their respective privacy policies.

Data Security

Since all data is stored locally using Chrome's secure storage APIs, your data is protected by the same security measures Chrome uses to protect your browser data. The extension does not transmit data over the network.

Data Deletion

You can delete your stored data at any time:

• Use the "Clear All" button in the History sidebar to delete all saved history entries
• Uninstall the extension to remove all associated data from your browser

Children's Privacy

Browser Utils does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The extension does not require any personal information to function.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
